Types of traditional houses in
the different regions of Ecuador
Hi!✋ This time I am gonna talk to you about the traditional Ecuadorian
houses, some of which have become traditional, it is important to bring up this
topic, to learn more about our culture.
Let's go!!!
In this region, the climate is warm and because
of that the houses are built with wood and guadúa cane, the walls and structure
so that there is a natural cross ventilation and the material for the roof is
the cadi or cade that comes from a palm, also the construction of the houses
depends on the family's economy. The houses are built at a certain height to
avoid crawling animals and floods in the rainy season.
This region lies between the Coast region and the Amazon region, the climate of the mountains is very varied due to the Andes mountain range, however most of the time it could be said that it is temperate, humid, cold. Some of the traditional houses there are built of clay blocks, adobe walls, stones, mixed, etc., the roof is made of rustic tile and the two sides are usually inclined so that the rain falls, the shapes of the houses may vary, owners make the house cozy due to the cold.
*I look forward to visit some provinces of the Sierra region in a future.
Amazon Region
This region is green, humid, tropical, rainy, it only rains most of the time, although there are also days that are sunny. The traditional houses are of different shapes, and have a variety of materials for their construction, such as chonta, guadúa, huangana wood for the walls, structures, these materials are resistant to the rainy climate of the region. For the roof there are the sheets of toquilla that is also resistant to the environment.
